We had a fun senior outing to Devon House - in Kingston...partially to say goodbye to the Sorensen;s who are in St. George right now! This is the mansion of the first Jamaican millionaire - his father was a German Jew, Steibel, and his mother a Jamaican...he was shipwrecked off Venezula and made a ton of money in a gold mine there. His house was built in 1881 and has about 50% original furniture, pictures, etc. left in the house. Here is our guide, she said the small box on the old desk is a forerunner of our lap tops! It holds pens, envelopes for letters, etc. we all laughed! Here is also pictures the ballroom, the foyer and all the senior couples on the front steps.
