Using your Head III

Here is a lady in the middle of downtown- using her head! How is Sophie doing with her balancing act?
We were lucky as a whole island - Hurricane Tomas passed us by - we had a little wind and some rain - but nothing like some of the other islands...I'm sure it is a matter of time until we get a more direct hit. Here is a picture of the waves from our deck that show how much higher - white caps - in the ocean. It is interesting to see the changes in the ocean with the changes in the weather.

Goats

There are goats, large, middle sized and small, that eat the greens along the roads - Here is one climbing up the guard rail for a greener bite! Elder Smith planted some tomato seeds in a pot - - in a week they had grown 4 inches - course we LIVE in a hot house!

Montego Bay

We drove to Montego Bay to the grocery store - Mega Mart, and the Pharmacy on Preparation Day this week. Here are some pictures along the way - isn't the bay beautiful? and the man who is riding in the back of the truck - happens all the time. They are usually holding on to the load in the truck! Also a picture of the houses going up the steep side of the mountains - pretty exciting to drive up there and try and find 'lost sheep'!!

Ocho Rios Post Office

Here is the Post Office in Ocho Rios - it is open air and there are boxes you can rent - but most people just stand in line and get their mail from the clerk - who sorts it by hand!! General Delivery Ocho Rios is most people's mailing address!! Be grateful for the USPS today!

Awesome morning

Hi All,
We had the best morning ever! A member lady has a non-member friend she has been sharing the gospel with - she asked us if we would meet with him first before we turn him over to the young elders to teach him. So we had an appointment at the Church at 10:00 this morning. Came ten - no body coming - come 10:15 a lady stops to read the sing on the door and comes in! She felt like she needed to! We spoke for a few minutes and she said she was climbing up the stairs to go the the Government Health Office - a few doors down from us. When she read the sign about a church she wanted to know more!! We gave her a Book of Mormon and she literally grabbed it and opened it and wrote her name in it in big bold letters - Sonja Garrick. We got her phone number and she said she wanted to know more. Then James called and said he was on his way that he got held up at work ...we are just glad he is working - too many aren't! We had a nice discussion with him about the Plan of Happiness our Heavenly Father has for each of His children on this earth. He has a B of M - actually said he had called Sister White and told her some problems he was having. She told him to read in the Book of Mormon - just anywhere, anything and then try to work out his problems - he did and his problem was solved immediately!! Not random - thank you Heavenly Father .. we are excited for him to learn more also - great morning!! The gospel is true and the only way to happiness here and hereafter!
