Miscellanous
The name of this auto parts store is Big Rat Auto - make you want to purchase there?
Here is a photo of Sunday dinner at our apartment, Pres. and Sis. Hendricks, the young sisters and the District President, Morrison. This fruit? tree is on our complex grounds, we thought either the fruit isn't ripe or it doesn't taste very good! need to ask someone what it is. This house is pretty typical here - half done! they live in part and finish the rest when they can ...smart!
Fields of Junction
A beautiful tomato field that we walk by every morning - another field of pumpkins - they grow them year round and they are green and white stripped mostly - not orange! This scarecrow made us laugh - - I stopped to take a picture and the farmer was sitting nearby - I asked permission to take a picture and he said of course, I asked if the scarecrow scared the crows away ..he answered it was for the dogs - that the dogs get in his field ..."and mash it up"!! We visited a member of the branch that is high enough on the mountain to see the ocean from her house...not as close as in Ochie but never the less nice.
Two bugs
This bug was on the downstairs hallway the other morning - the sister said it is a police bug! Sunday morning this rhinorsaurs (sp) beetle was on our window screen in the front room. Here is Elder Smith with a patch of sorrell at a members house. She gave us some of the purple flower petals and the recipe. You take ginger root and boil it until it smells strong, add the sorrell, boil for a while and then drain and add sugar (I added Sprite) it was pretty good.

New Apartment
New District
Our new District - Sister Wilkinson, Sister Everett, Elder Krouse and Elder Ostberg.
The picture of the extension cord strung from the sisters back window to ours! we used this for almost a week before our power was turned on - creative problem solving! The lower line is a clothesline - outside of our laundry room. There are two washers and one dryer, and four tubs for hand washing ... we think we and the young sisters are the only ones who use the electronic machines! there is always clothes hanging on the line!

Zone Conference in Mandeville with Elder Vinos
On Monday, August 22, we had Zone Conference in the Mandeville Chapel - our Area President, Elder Vinos and his lovely wife were visiting on a mission tour from the Dominican Republic. We were amazed at how beautiful the church building is, and the conference was wonderful. Later that evening all the senior couples had dinner with the Vinos's at the mission home ...lovely evening. We have such great leaders in the Church, and our mission.

District Conference May Pen
We attended the Mandeville District Conference today in May Pen, Jamaica. It was wonderful .. the church is much stronger on the south side of the island - a real church building ... filled with faithful saints! We saw the Richardsons and their new baby girl - they used to be members of Ocho Rios Branch, also Nigel Lee, who came home from his mission to Jamaica to OR last February. He has also relocated to the south to work and attend school. Elder Vinos of the area presidency is here for a mission tour, we will attend zone conference tomorrow - then dinner with the senior couples. Great talks about strong families and gospel worthiness and attending the temple. Happy Sundy to all!

Wild Flowers
Stan and Julie sent this wonderful bookmark in my birthday card - which has Montana Wildflowers seeds in it1 I am going to plant them in a pot on our new patio...hopefully they will like the heat and humidity of a tropical island, compared to the coolness of a Montana mountain field! Love the sayings: Advice from a Wildflower: Show your true colors, Delight in simple pleasures, Open up! Spread seeds of Joy, It's OK to be a late bloomer and Be wild and wonderful!!

Transferred!
Wow - we got a call from our wonderful Mission President and he asked us to serve in Junction, a small city on the south side of the island ... so goodbye Ocho Rios - we sure will miss the great people we know here and the beautiful ocean, craft shops, etc. But we are more than willing to serve wherever we are needed. We drove to Junction - south of Mandeville - and rented an apartment - first one we saw. It is in the apartment complex pictured - the sister missionaries live about two doors down from us !! that will be fun. The church building is next to a bar - about 100 yards away from our complex - yay - we can walk to church. The city is in small green mountains - more pictures coming. We are both sad and glad - a new adventure but hard to leave good friends - lifelong friends!!!
